Kristen Thacker was born August, 10th 1973 with a crayon in hand, in Sacramento California. She lived in a few Californian cities with her family as a child, before finally landing in Seattle when she was 17.  She sought escape from the drizzly Seattle weather which further reinforced Kristen's interest in art.  Her mother, an artist her self, encouraged Kristen's artistic interests, giving her lessons in technique and other basics needed to learn her craft. Kristen still lives and works as an artist in Seattle. She and her Husband David and ruler of all she surveys their cat Jane, have a home in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

Kristen owned and operated her own business after receiving a degree in machine technology. She designed and produced custom titanium jewelry until a chronic pain illness forced her to close the business’s doors. Her 15 year battle with chronic pain gave her a unique view and appreciation of life which is seen in many of her pieces today. Her pain isn’t nearly as bad as it once was but the gritty flavor that stems from it is still prevalent in her work.

Although never attending any formal artistic schooling, Kristen's work reflects her love of art. She displays artistic skill that only comes with thousands of hours of experience.
